In Module 9, we explore restorative yoga for longevity and the appropriate props and modifications that are available. Pranayama, the fourth limb of Ashtanga Yoga mentioned in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, is discussed in context of techniques, exercises, and the anatomy & physiology of breathing. We explore Pranamaya kosha – our vital life force and the five prana energies (prana, apana, udana, samana, vyana). The 5 Koshas (Physical Sheath, Vital Energy Sheath, The Mental Body, Awareness Body, Bliss Body) is discussed generally, as well as the three Badhas (Mula Bandha, Uddiyana Bandha, Jalandhara Bandha) as it relates to the subtle body. The curriculum includes: Group Asana Practice, Multi-media Lecture, Group Discussion, Journaling and Practice Teaching, Assisting, Adjusting and Sequencing for restorative yoga.
