Luisella took her first step on a yoga mat in Milan, Italy, her native town in 2009. She immediately fell in love with this ancient practice, not only for its physical benefits, but also for the balance yoga brought into her life.
In Italy she studied the Kriya Yoga with great curiosity. Kriya is a specific form of Raja Yoga where techniques create balance between the mind and the body through the asana practice and the observation of the breath, including meditation.
When the family moved to Sarasota in 2014 she started following Rodney Yee’s alignment based approach to yoga: focus on the alignment and the mechanic of the body with great attention to the study of the breath.
Judith H. Lasater’s restorative teachings are another great source of inspiration for Luisella’s studies: “The essence of yoga is what the asana leave behind”. There is no better place to experience this rather than in the restorative postures.
Luisella completed her 200-hour TT in March 2016 at one of the Sarasota premier studios where she taught beginners, mixed level and chair yoga classes, and served as a teaching assistant with “hands on adjustments”. Luisella also served at Sarasota Parkinson Place as a teacher/ teaching assistant.
She is teaching multiple classes and workshops at Lakewood Ranch Country Club, and private classes at a Condo living environment in Lakewood Ranch
Advanced training includes Kandy Love’s Iyengar restorative workshops, and ongoing training around the U.S. with world re-nowned Rodney Yee to bring alignment principles and most current practice to her students. She continues to take monthly programs locally to hone her skills.
Due to her cultural background (she graduated in Italian literature), she has always been interested in the historicy and philosophic aspects of yoga, which enabled yoga to survive and increase in popularity throughout the years and the cultural changes.
She considers meditation an essential part of the practice, a starting point for observing our true nature as human beings and “make peace” with it and with the world around us.
Her classes are thread around her mantra “Let the Yoga Happen” where the asana and the breath are tools that allow the students to experience a journey both into the alignment based sequence, (available to “any body” through props), and into themselves, touching the highest point in the final relaxation, “Where the Yoga Happens”.
If you want to start this new exciting journey, or simply experiencing a new awareness of your body incredible potential, come to class and share Luisella’s enthusiasm and love for the practice.
