Find Safe Ground: Strength and Wisdom in Seated Poses

The 2nd Module focuses on teaching, assisting, adjusting and sequencing seated poses and counter-indications thereof. The anatomy and physiology of the knee is discussed as well as limited ROM (range of motion) issues and how to modify for safety and comfort. Yoga as service (as a reflection of Seva, meaning selfless service in Sanskrit) is discussed in the context of your intentions as a practitioner and/or yoga instructor and as an ideology generally. An introduction to special populations delves into the poses that encourage bone density for the prevention of osteoporosis. The second Chakra, Svadhisthana (Creativity) located below the navel and above the pubic bone is discussed and the energetic anatomy of the subtle body is discussed. Sequencing along with the adjusting for and assisting seated poses is discussed. The curriculum includes: Group Asana Practice, Meditation, Multi-media Lecture, Group Discussion, Journaling, Practice Teaching/Assisting/Adjusting and Sequencing seated poses & Sun Salutations.
