Just like your diet, a well-rounded fitness regimen often provides the best results. Combined with other activities your workout routine can be more efficient and effective.  Runners can certainly benefit from yoga and yoga enthusiasts can benefit from running.  The Sarasota Music Half Marathon & Rockin’ 10k is the one event in town that takes the sting out of running.  The run takes place February 4, 2018 and will sellout with 4,000 entrants.  This 13.1 or 6.2 mile journey around the Bayfront of Sarasota includes 20 bands and 42 entertainment locations.  This means runners hear the music 42 times as they meander this beautiful course.  Runners who do yoga or at least stretch to complement their running have better race performance than people who just get up in the morning and go for a run.  Race organizers realized that the half marathon distance (13.1 miles) is not for everyone so they added a 10k (6.2 miles) run this year.  Now the Music Half Marathon truly has something for everyone.  Runners enjoy the music, the friendly Girl Scouts with their mounds of cookies at mile 8, the high school marching band on top of the Ringling Bridge, and the beer mile at mile 12.  Nothing beats a cold frosty to bring you home on the final mile.  The race benefits over 15 area non-profits who provide about 500 volunteers.  Collectively non-profits take home over $25,000 annually from their race participation.  However, the Music Half Marathon isn’t just for hard core runners.  The course cut off time makes the event walker friendly.  Plenty of people walk the distance and still enjoy the cookies, beer and music.  But the race saved the best for last since finishing is a reward itself.  The post race gourmet brunch has been served up by Mattison’s since the race inception.  The event has always featured its highlight band at the post-race party.  If you want a rockin’ fun way to challenge yourself and have a scrumptious breakfast then try the Sarasota Music Half Marathon and Rockin’ 10k.
