Namaste is an acknowledgement of the divine within you from one soul to another. Literally, Namaste means “I bow to you.” The gesture of Namaste is done by bringing both hands together at the heart chakra, which is the heart our center. The head bows down towards the hands, allowing the third eye to tilt forward in a deep expression of respect. The meaning of the third eye bowing towards the hands is the surrender of the mind to the Divine within the heart. The gesture of Namaste, when done in a group setting, creates a deep sense of community energetically and spiritually. Ideally, the gesture of Namaste is done both at the beginning of your yoga practice and at the end–permitting the ‘truth’ of oneness to be shared collectively.
